So as not to be discriminatory to those excellent people who were X-Philes from the start, I'm creating special status for those longtime viewers who join. I don't have all the details worked out yet, but I will post again once I do. Until then, as always, prospective members can email me at audrey [dot] allen [at] yahoo [dot] com.

Thanks!

My Story

I am a Young Person.

My age shall remain undefined, but just know I am so much a Young Person, that I was too young to watch The X-Files during it's heyday.

Oh, the horror! [gasp]

My first encounter with XF was about a year ago when I was browsing FanFiction.Net. Someone's profile was talking about these people called "Mulder" and "Scully" and something about aliens.

I did not become instantly intrigued, however. I thought those were weird names, so I kept browsing and subsequently forgot this encounter.

My next encounter was about three months ago. And it was also on FanFiction.Net. Instead of running in the other direction, I read a story about these people called Mulder and Scully who were FBI agents and they hunted little green [grey!] men. Even though I had never seen the show, whoever that author was made me like these characters. I looked up the show on Google, Wikipedia, and IMDB. I soaked up X-Files like a sponge.

I was hooked without even watching an episode.

I knew that the show was old, and over, so I thought I would never actually watch an episode until I bought some seasons. But then came the wonder of RERUNS! The first episode I ever saw was The Sixth Extinction 2: Amor Fati on the SciFi channel.

I was confused, I was entertained, I thought the ending was cute. (I became a shipper the second I started watching. Sue me.)

The second episode I saw was The Amazing Maleeni, which I also enjoyed. It was then that my mother found out about my secretive viewings. I found out she was a fan Back In The Day. Like, when there were actual new episodes.

So, every day for a while, I would camp out on my couch with all of the lights off at four in the afternoon and watch seventh season reruns.

It was bliss.

Then, the seventh season ended, I got DVR, and three seasons on DVD, and my viewings have become less scheduled. (It's actually painful to watch the eighth season reruns. Three words: I MISS MULDER.) But I am now an active online fan. I was browsing the other day and I came upon the OBSSE website.

I laughed my head off, then wished I could join!

I figured there had to be other people like me, who were too young/too busy/too ignorant to watch XF when it was a hit. So, to make an even longer story short, I started this website.

Welcome.

Welcome to the Home Page for the Association of New X-Philes.

A welcome message detailing what the heck this website is all about should be up soon.
